We appreciate that the recent change of policy in relation to the timing of the 2nd vaccine dose may be of some concern for our patients. However, our practice is following advice issued by the Chief Medical Officer on December 30th and as we operate under a contract with NHS England, we have been asked to implement the change with immediate effect.
Subject to the available supply of vaccine, all patients who have received the first dose will be re-booked to receive their 2nd dose within the 12 week period as advised by the CMO. The surgery will contact you to book your 2nd appointment and this appointment will normally be around the 12th week, as the current priority is to administer the first dose to as many people as possible. The first dose of vaccine will give a level of protection after 2-3 weeks. However, in line with the current guidance, you should continue to follow national guidance by visiting www.gov.uk/coronavirus.
